Okay, let’s do this thing. Here’s a recap of my last week of outfits. I’m so looking forward to sharing my 2013 with you. For reference 2012 and 2011. And, as always you can click through to see photos larger.
When the whole instagram brouhaha (don’t you love that word?) went down – I packed my bags & took my ball home. Yes, I know they don’t want to sell one of the 456 photos of me drinking, but it made me feel uneasy. I don’t begrudge anyone for staying, they’ve built a fantastic community – but it hasn’t really stopped me from sharing. I still post about the same amount of photos, and I still think my life is beautiful without a valencia filter. So here’s my notstagram – small photos from my life the last week or so.
p.s. – if you’re on flickr and we’re not friends, let’s be friends!
So, in keeping with my more/less in 2013 list I decided that this month I wasn’t going to be buying any new clothes, hats, scarves or shoes. My one misstep this far was badly scuffing my only pair of brown boots and impulsively replacing them on the 2nd.
I’m admitting this to you, internet because I want to be truthful. I like shopping. I am good at it. It is fun. I like things. I am also in full disclosure because I could have easily said nothing and used that misstep to continue to quietly shop to my little heart’s content – but that’s not who I am. It’s also good to remind oneself that we are, in fact, imperfect and that a stumble is not a cause to not try again.
So, new boots aside – I’m still pretty much on track. I feel confident and I feel like I’m revisiting old stuff and new stuff (I KNOW!) in my closet and it’s kind of fun.
Knowing myself, this is not something I can sustain for forever – but after January I’m going to take a good, hard look at where my money is going (thanks mint!) and set myself a budget because budgets are not punishment.
Feel free to check in throughout the month of January. I’m hoping to update you weekly on my progress but I’m also hoping that as the days go by, the thought of what I can’t have is not so heavy and maybe it will just slip my mind – keep your fingers crossed!
I think we all say pretty much the same things when we finally cross the threshold of the new year. And even though I think resolutions aren’t just for the new year – I don’t see anything wrong with making a list of things you’d like to accomplish. So in 2013 here’s what I’d like more and less of
– Putting things back where they belong
– Being okay with saying no
– Being present
– Gossip (personal & reading about celebrities)
– Wasting time
– Worrying about things that are out of my control
I’ve been posting these posts that are a review of my fashion but I keep forgetting that tomorrow is actually New Year’s Eve and 2012 is on its way out. Having Christmas and New Year’s Eve be in the beginning of the week is so odd and I think it’s maybe throwing everyone off, or maybe it’s just me. I like the end of the year – even though you can start over at any time, there’s something amazing about the calendar flipping over and really getting a chance to start anew.
2012 has dealt me some pretty shitty hands but I’m trying to think about the bright moments, the solidifying of relationships and just continuing to focus on all the good things this life has to offer, which no matter what happens – is plenty.
So, here are some things I liked this year. See you in 2013
