Cleaning Out The Closet
First, isn’t closet such a bizarre word? The other day I pulled out my giant bin of winter clothes. I like to think that I’ve built a closet that is largely full of clothes that I can wear year-round by adding tights or another layer or taking away those things but I mean – I can’t wear a sweater in June without dying. It was exciting to see those things again with new eyes – it’s like shopping without spending any of my precious monies!
Having said that – I will confess to you that my closet is a nightmare. Every blue moon I work myself into a froth about organizing it, kind of fix things and then let it work itself back into disarray. I love when it’s all color-coded & easy to see things, but…I just – it’s exhausting. Yes, this is one of my life’s real problems. Judge me.
One of the issues is that we simply don’t have a lot of space. I’m going to have to get more creative with organization because it is a stone cold wreck in there. The other is that (gulp) I’m going to have to get rid of some things. This is a problem because a. I like my stuff. b. Since I had weight loss surgery and pretty much replaced my entire wardrobe, nothing is “old”, therefore I don’t feel like it needs to be given away or tossed out c. I really like my stuff. It’s not that I don’t have things that aren’t getting worn but it’s not because they don’t fit or I don’t like them – it’s because…I have so much stuff.
So, hopefully tonight & tomorrow I’m going to devise some kind of closet plan & get my act together. If you have tiny closet tips – I’d LOVE to hear them.
